What to expect from me as a design lead.
Design is something that everyone relies on to make sense of the world, so we all have value to add in one way or another.
The value I bring is in encouraging the creative minds of those in my team to create beautiful solutions that we can test. I believe in nurturing and guiding the talented members of my team in pursuit of world-class design solutions and in being their source of guidance and direction.
Good leadership allows for a team to satisfy both the business and the user's needs, whilst maintaining a focused and motivated team.
My peers have described me as the cool head in the room, always calm when the stress levels are turned up. My leadership style encourages all to feel safe in sharing ideas, thus fostering an open and creative environment for all.
As a design lead, I have had the responsibility of managing the expectations of more than just the design stakeholders, but those of business, development, risk and many other key members of the organisation and customers I work with. Design thinking is a key part of business strategy decisions, and it is up to design leaders to maintain the respect that the design discipline has earned.
